Mrs. Beedie Reathel Stewart Burnette, age 101, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away on March 12, 2023 in Blue Ridge, GA. She was born in Fannin County, GA on April 8, 1921 to the late Jervis and Biddie Arizona Davenport Stewart. She had been a member of O'Zion Baptist Church since 1950. Beedie loved being outdoors whether it was sitting on the porch, gardening, or tending to her flowers. She also loved mowing grass and used her weedeater until she was 96 years old. She loved to take walks for exercise but also was famous for her lard biscuits and chocolate gravy. Beedie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband she married February 21, 1943, James Clay Burnette; grandson, Chad Mashburn; siblings, Charles "Bo" Stewart, Raymond Stewart, Lemar Stewart, Jack Stewart, Albert Stewart, Evie Stewart Bowers; and great granddaughter, Kristen Sisson.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Burnette; two daughters, Joan Mashburn and Judy Moore; sister, Sheila Stewart Stuart all of Blue Ridge, GA; grandchildren, Renee Mashburn, Jennifer Jacobs, Tammy Sisson, Jamey Burnette and JoJo Pack; eleven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Min. Terry Stuart officiating. Interment followed at the O'Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Scott Stuart, Brian Stuart, Jamey Burnette, Billy Grant, Mark Loudermilk, and Mason Rhodes. The family visited with friends on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Burnette may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation online at www.cff.org.
