Barbara Lorraine Bridgewater Hughes, age 59, of Copperhill, TN passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Barbara was born on October 12, 1964 in Macomb, IL to Gale E. Bridgewater 1 and June Ensley. She was of the Christian faith and was baptized with her grandson at the McCaysville Gospel Tabernacle in 2020. Barbara worked as a waitress, and also, as a collector of many things, she owned a collectibles shop in McCaysville, GA. She enjoyed writing and drawing. Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, June Ensley.

Barbara is survived by her husband, David R. Deal Jr. of Copperhill, TN; parents, Gale E. Bridewater 1 and Kathryn E. Bridgewater of Peoria, IL; children, Adam Eugene Hughes and wife, Mindy of Blairsville, GA, Brandi Lynn Hughes and fiancee, Troy Deal of Copperhill, TN, James Matthew Hughes and fiancee Caitlyn Foglin of Turtletown, TN, Nicole Born, Natalie Deal, and Brittany Harrison; grandchildren, Dominic Hughes, Teigan Hughes, Temperance Hughes, Tierlyn Hughes, Lexie (Tyler) Gilliam, Blake (Kenzie) Hughes, Bryson Hughes, Kaitlyn White, Cole White, Jase White, Case, and Cutler; great-grandchildren, Addie Mae Gilliam, Judah Lloyd Gilliam, and Hazel Ray Hughes; brothers, Bud Bridgewater of Manito, IL, Michael Paul Bridgewater of Peoria, IL, and Stephen Mark Bridgewater of Englewood, CO; and beloved dog, Max.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 12:00 PM from the Akins-Cobb Copperhill Chapel with Pastor Adam Hughes officiating. Eulogy was given by Gale E. Bridgewater 1. Interment followed in the Crestlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Hughes, Stephen Bridgewater, Bud Bridgewater, Troy Deal, Bruce Deal, Cole White, and Michael Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to help defray final expenses.
