Obituary

Barbara Cheney Keel, 89, of Sandy Springs, GA, passed on Sunday September 4 ,2022.

Ms. Keel was born in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of the late Howard Walter Cheney and Rachael Bradford. She attended Bass High School, and Auburn University, where she was also a member of Delta Zeta Sorority.

She was a member of the Georgia Real Estate Board, and the Georgia Teaching Certification board, and was a member of Duluth First United Methodist Church in Duluth, GA.

Barbara will be remembered for Hosting family gatherings where she was notoriously known for her delicious cooking for family and her church congregation for Wednesday dinner bells. She was a passionate educator who loved teaching locally in Gwinnett Elementary schools. She was a loyal Auburn football fan who never missed a game. She will be missed by her church congregation as she was instrumental in founding and designing the Duluth First United Methodist Church prayer Garden. Barbara was a socialite who loved a good card game with her friends over at Mansions Independent Living.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Robert J. Keel, Son, Alan Glenn Keel, Grandson, Hunter Lane Keel, Father, Howard Walton Cheney, Mother, Rachael Bradford, her sisters, Nancy Wynn, Patty Nix Betty Long. She is survived by her son, Gary Lane Keel, Daughter in Law- Kimberly B. Keel, Granddaughter- Sarah Jean Keel, and many nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate Barbara's life will be held, September 18th at 3:00PM at Duluth First United Methodist Church. 3208 Duluth Highway Duluth, GA 30096

Visitation will be held, September 18th at 2:00PM

The family will receive family and friends on Sunday September 18 at 2PM at Duluth First United Methodist Church. 3208 Duluth Highway Duluth, GA 30096.
