Barbara Sue Dockery, age 88, of Blue Ridge, Georgia passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at her home. She was born on November 21, 1934 in McCaysville, Georgia to the late James Garrison and Gladys Griggs. Barbara Sue loved the Lord and frequently attended the First Baptist Church of Epworth.

She loved her late husband, Cecil, more than anything. After his death in 1994, Barbara Sue took up traveling. She had traveled the world and also had a collection souvenirs of everywhere she had went. She had a special love for children and was the leader of a local Girl Scout Troop and also took numerous trips with them.

Barbara Sue was the oldest of all her first cousins and always had a story to tell. She had the most contagious smile and laugh, was always the "boss," and you never had to guess what she was thinking.

In her downtime, she loved to read many books, play bingo, and for many years she participated in a local bowling league.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cecil Dockery and her parents Gladys Griggs Crawford, Bill Crawford, and James Garrison.

She is survived by her special friends, Carol Fain and Lynda Walker; special cousins, Faye Strang and Claire Sisson; sister, Pat Herndon; special great-nephew, Logan Coyle; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.

A Graveside service was held on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. from the Copper Ridge Memory Gardens with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Richard Griggs, Ken Elliott, John Elliott, Rusty Kaylor, Timmy Kaylor, and Robert Griggs. Selected to serve as honorary pallbearers were Joe Hughes, Anthony Hughes, Henry Hooper, Logan Coyle, and Mike Herndon.

Officiating the service were Dr. Tom Jordan, Dr. Chan Mitchell, Rev. Randy Hooper, and Rev. Tully Griggs.
