Barbara Mae Pond Ballew, age 85, of Ducktown, TN, died Sunday, July 20, 2008 in the Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Ballew was born in Hamilton County, TN and was a homemaker and member of the Mine City Baptist Church. Mrs. Ballew was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bertha Jones Pond; her husband, Floyd Earnest Ballew; three sons, Murnice Ballew, Tommy Sharp and Gordon Sharp; one brother, Carl Pond; two sisters, Thelma Gibson and Ruth Cross.Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Roscoe M. and Linda Ballew of Cleveland, TN; son, Wayne Ballew of Ducktown, TN; five daughters and sons-in-law; Joyce and Manker Allen of Farner, TN, Geraldine and Jerry Sledge of Cleveland, TN, Doris and Charles Beavers of McCaysville, GA, Cecelia and Danny Payne of Ducktown, TN and Maxine and Champ Prince of Copperhill, TN; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren and many special friends also survive.Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 22, at 1:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Jeremiah Jack officiating. Music was by Champ Prince, Gloria Herr, Mike and Gina Coleman. Interment followed in the Mobile Baptist Church Cemetery with Zachary Payne, Chad Nicholson, Josh Barnett, Lewis Chambers, Mark Allen and Jeremiah Allen serving as pallbearers.
