Arvil Bennie McClure, age 76, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019 at his home. Mr. McClure was born in Gilmer County, GA to the late John Arvil McClure and Emily Jane Fowler McClure. He retired from Goldkist where he was a truck driver and fork life operator. Mr. McClure was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Ruby Patterson McClure; and a grandson, Benjermen Shane McClure. Mr. McClure is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Bennie and Pam McClure of Ellijay, GA, William and Terresa McClure, John and Amy McClure, and Jason and Mariel McClure, all of Blue Ridge; two daughters and sons-in-law, Abby and Russell Evans of Ellijay and Amy and Shane Crisp of Murphy, NC; brothers and sister-in-law, Johnny McClure of Ellijay and Butch and Janice McClure of Waleska, GA; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Davenport and Barbara and Ernest Watkins, all of Cherry Log, GA; sisters-in-law, Mary Sue Green and Reba McClure, both of Blue Ridge; 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Jeff Fair and Rev. Darvin Couch officiating. Music will be by The Farmer Family. Pallbearers will be Julio Hing, Seth McClure, Isaac McClure, Patrick McClure, Mason McClure, Jacob McClure, and Tyler McClure. Honorary pallbearers will the Grandsons not serving as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant (Buckhorn) Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening after 5:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Mr. McClure may be made to the Charity of you Choice that benefits children.
