Mr. Alvin Trantham, age 78, of Murphy, NC passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013 at his home. Mr. Trantham was born in Cherokee County, NC to the late George McKinley Trantham and Mary Magdalene Jones Trantham. He was retired from the Tennessee Chemical Company where he had worked as a Carpenter. He was a member of the Staffordtown Holiness Church and was also preceded in death by siblings, Winford Trantham, Jimmy Trantham, Ganil Parson, Georgia Lou Spivey and Lucille Panter.He is survived by his wife, Stella Harris Trantham of the home; children, Randall (Geraldine) Trantham and Ray Trantham, both of Murphy, NC; brothers, Clyde Trantham of Murphy, NC, Elmer Trantham of Copperhill, TN, Johnny Trantham of Copperhill, TN, Roy Trantham of Sylva, NC; one grandchild, Ashley (James) Brown; great grandson, Denver James Brown; step-grandchildren, James Chapman, Melissa Chapman, Joseph Chapman, Brandi Lau and Michelle Chastain.Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 1st, at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Pastor John Wynn and Pastor Anthony Wynn officiating. Music will be by Phillip Mason, Mary Mason and Johnny Mason. Pallbearers include Tim Trantham, David Trantham, Chris Trantham, Jerry Hughes, Terry Hughes and John Trantham. Honorary pallbearers include Annette Collins, Wade Junior Collins and the Housekeeping Department from the Copper Basin Medical Center.
