April 16, 1928 – October 1, 2025
Alva Jeanne Fowler, age 97, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 surrounded by family. She was born on April 16, 1928 to Wallace "Frog" Payne and Mabel Pevehouse Payne. Jeanne was known for her cooking, love of camping, and most of all, her love for her family. She was of the Baptist Faith, and attended Mine City Baptist Church as long as her health allowed. Jeanne had several jobs in her younger days. She worked at a five & dime store, the Tastee Freeze, A&P store, Levis, and two drug stores. Jeanne retired with over twenty years as bookkeeper at Copper Basin High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Mabel Payne; husband of 68 years, Guinn Edward Fowler; grandson, Ronald Jeremy Fowler; granddaughter, Rebecca Jeanne Sosebee; siblings and their spouses, Charlotte Laverne "Bun" & A.B. Lockhart , Olin Shadden "Bud" & Louise Payne , Ruth Evelyn "Toots" & Bill Nichols, Austin Faye "Tince" & Carzell Payne, Edris Altose & Kenneth Deal, Shirley Louise & Harold Patterson , Max Roosevelt Payne, Zane Leon & Vivian Payne, and Barbara Gale & Harold Dale.
Jeanne is survived by her sons, Ronald Guinn (Cyndi) Fowler, and John Carlton (Marty) Fowler; daughter, Kathy Jeanne (Mike) Topolewski; grandchildren, Dr. Lisa Fowler, Amy (Ryan) Mitchell, Sondra Fowler (wife of deceased grandson, Jeremy), Shad Fowler, Melanie (Jon) Vines, and Brad (Celeste) Sosebee; and great-grandchildren, Ella, Oliver, Molly, Ada, Josh (Megan), Alex, Cole, Carson, Tyler, Emily, Logan, Lucus, Madden, and Jerzee; and great-great-grandchildren, Kylee and Kyler.
Memorial services were conducted on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Doug Dale officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.akinscobb.com.
