Alma Brendle Thomas, age 95, of Murphy passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at her home. Alma was born on September 20, 1928 in Oak Park, NC to the late Pender Brendle and Mattie McDaniel Brendle. She worked as a teacher for many years in the public school system. Later in life, Alma transitioned to elderly care helping assist and comfort those in need. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Lake Brendle, Lynn Brendle, Thelma "Ted" Price, Margaret Holst, Dorothy Mae Adams, Jack Brendle, Wilma Brendle, and Steve Brendle.

Alma is survived by her sons, Robert Mullen of Murphy, NC, Laird Gaddis of Port St. Lucie, FL, and John Altenhoff of Mammoth Springs, AR; and brothers, Bill Brendle and Charles Brendle.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from the Shoal Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Beavers officiating. Music was provided by Mitchell Prince.
