Mr. Alfred James Davenport, age 83, of Blue Ridge, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012 in the Copper Basin Medical Center. Born in Fannin County, GA on February 3, 1929, to the late Marion Vester and Beulah Gertrude Mann Davenport, he worked in the timber industry as a logger. He was a member of O'Zion Baptist Church and was a deacon for fifty-five years. Mr. Davenport was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Arny Davenport and daughter, Frances Davenport Landen.He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, David and Brenda Davenport of Chatsworth, GA, Danny and Becky Davenport of Blue Ridge, GA and Tracy and Debbie Davenport of Blue Ridge, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Leaman and Ethel Davenport of Blue Ridge, GA; sister, Eva Mae Stanley of Chatsworth, GA; brother-in-law, Grady Key of Dalton, GA and sister-in-law, Jannell Davenport of Dalton.Funeral services were conducted Monday, April 9, at 2:00 p.m. at O'Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Thrasher, Rev. Joe Dan Wilkins and Rev. Michael Pope officiating. Music was by O'Zion Baptist Church Choir. Pallbearers were Jamie Davenport, Brandon Davenport, Dane Davenport, Glen Davenport, James Aaron and Bryan Tipton. Honorary Pallbearers were Deacons of O'Zion Baptist Church and area ministers.
