The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mr. Alfred "Skip" Causey, age 63 of Blue Ridge, GA who passed away on Friday, July 20, 2012 in the Fannin Regional Hospital from a long battle with esophageal cancer. He was born on June 27, 1949 in Forest Park, GA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Coleman and sister, Vicki Williamson.Skip was a Sergeant in the United States Marines serving two tours in Vietnam and was a Purple Heart recipient. Before moving to Blue Ridge, Skip and his wife lived in Atlanta where he worked for Southern Bell for twenty-three years. He was awarded the prestigious Theodore N. Vail Award for selflessly saving a man's life. Skip also earned a Juris Doctorate degree in law. After moving to Blue Ridge he contracted with the US Army in communications and also worked in real estate. He was active with our Chamber of Commerce as an ambassador. Skip was a member of the First Baptist Church of Epworth.Survivors include his wife, Linda Causey of Blue Ridge, GA; sons, Michael Causey of McDonough, GA and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Causey of Athens, GA; daughter, Carolyn Mueller of Newnan, GA; father, Gordon Causey of Blue Ridge, GA; step-mother, Kay Causey of Blue Ridge, GA; brother, Joe (Kathleen) Causey of Winston-Salem, NC; sisters, Cindy (Mike) Pate of Whitesburg, GA and Janet Karczewski of Ohio; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill (Pam) Daniel of Madison, GA; grandchildren, Kristen and Lauren Mueller of Newnan, GA.A memorial service will be conducted Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from the First Baptist Church, 447 Madola Road, Epworth, GA 30541 with Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Internment will be planned for a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
