Albert Leon Moody, age 80, of Mableton, GA passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020. He was born in Atlanta, GA, on November 25, 1939, to the late Loney Moody and Audrey Wiggly Moody. He is also preceded in death by his grandson, Mitch Moody; a sister, Laura Moody; and two brothers, James Moody and Jerry Moody. Albert has many names and roles in this world. He is a husband, a dad, a grandpa, and a friend. Many of us know him as daddy, pawpaw, or Al, but all of us know him as an inspiration and a teacher. He has started a legacy that will keep him alive for decades to come. His impact on the racing world will continue well past drag racing, and spread down to the minds and hands that he has inspired to discover a passion for cars and engineering as a whole. Both in and outside the family, he has created a legacy, and I challenge everyone reading this to strive to create the same. Continue doing what he loves most which, for anyone who knows Al already understands, is sharing every ounce of knowledge he has with anyone willing to listen. He is survived by his wife, Shelby Bell Moody; sons, Alan (Monique) Moody, Mike (Kay) Moody; daughters, Shannon (Jason) Moody Hardy, and Robin Moody; sister, Bobbi Owens; brother, Robert Moody; grandchildren, Christian, Tori, Joshua, Justin, Will, Jacob, Annalise, Maurielle, Heaven, and Jaz; and great-grandchildren, Cole, Preston, and Ava. Many other nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services were conducted on Friday, May 15, 2020 at 2:00 PM from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 474 Pleasant Hill Road, Copperhill, TN 37317, with Rev. Al Patterson officiating.
